In England, no general law restricts where someone can vape, the national railway aside. Many venues, employers and transport operators ban vaping indoors under their own policies, so look for signs or ask.

The Tobacco and Vapes Act gives the government powers to create vape-free places through future regulations. The consultation closed on 8 May 2026 and no outcome had been published when we checked. Rules in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can differ, so check local guidance there.
